On Thursday, 4 June 2020, at 4 pm, you are invited to join us for a webinar 'How Do We Care? - the Practicalities and Poetics of Care' led by artist-poet Vidha Saumya and curator Irena Borić. The conversation will be live-streamed through the ZOOM online platform. Considering the new fragility of the current working and living conditions, the discussion attempts to counter the harmful effects of neoliberal politics. Therefore it intends to shed light on different practices and poetics of Care. By opening up a temporary conversational space, the participants are invited to join the exercise in which we tackle how Care is present in our institutions, organizations, or working groups; how it is needed or how it is denied. The virtual space of webinar attempts to become a space for experimenting with proposed strategies of Care.

Vidha Saumya is a Helsinki based Artist-Poet whose body of works - Monumental Drawings, Intimate Mark-makings, Murals, Books, Poems, Sculptures, Embroidered Textiles, Food Art, Videos, and Digital Artifacts - are wry and warm in their politics and kaleidoscopic in their aesthetics. The concept of Heimat / (Home)land is at the core of her praxis. She has studied art and art theory in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lahore and Helsinki and has exhibited across India and North Europe.

Irena Borić (1982, Zagreb) is an art historian, a curator and critic. She has collaborated on projects Shame on You! (2013-2017), net.cube (2015-2017), and Economies of Love/Politics of Feelings (2011-14). Recent exhibitions: Truth that Lies, (with Renata Šparada), Utrecht, the Netherlands (2019) and Earth Song's Low Frequency Tones, Velika Gorica, Croatia (2019). She has participated in curatorial residencies in Helsinki, Finland (2011), Celje, Slovenia (2012) and Vienna, Austria (2015). She is a member of the Croatian section of the AICA. As a member of INCA press she co-edited publication Forms of Education: Couldn't Get a Sense Of It. She is based in Maribor, Slovenia.

This webinar is the seventh in a series of lectures, conversations and workshops organized by X-OP Association for Contemporary Art as part of the project Risk Change (2016—2020). In the context of the current global situation, the series has been moved into the digital space and now takes place in the form of web-based seminars, or webinars. By the end of May, you will be able to listen and talk to (international) guests operating in various fields of culture, contemporary visual arts, film, architecture and education, whose practices are concerned with modern-day migrations, digital culture, infrastructure, politics and global relations of power, through a variety of original theoretical and practical approaches. The program will be regularly updated and events will be announced one week in advance.
